It’s always been hard to distinguish between primers. They all seem to feel the same or do the same type of job on my skin. While the others created a nice makeup base they never appeared to be perfect to me, until I discovered the Hourglass Nº 28 primer! Dress Your Face (Tamanna Roshan) continually raves about it on her DressYourFaceLive channel so I tried it, and now it’s a beauty must-have for me! It’s the most luxurious primer I’ve tried that creates the perfect, hydrating base.
What Is It?
It’s a very hydrating primer, which does wonders for my dry skin. The hydrating formula creates a refined and retextured surface for makeup. The formula contains 14 essential oils (lavender, geranium, rose geranium, vanilla, clove, orange peel, amyris, lemon peel, petitgrain, eucalyptus, rosemary leaf, bois de rose, cedar leaf, ylang ylang), 10 lipid-rich plant oils (jojoba, rose hips seed, evening primrose, hazelnut, borage seed, kukui nut, sweet almond, green tea, olive, and cherry pit), and four vitamins (A, B5, C, and E). The incredible blend of oils and vitamins glides on to the skin effortlessly to strengthen skin’s natural moisture barrier, even out pores and help protect against harsh environmental conditions.
Why Is It So Fantastic?
This primer leaves my skin feeling smooth and even, poreless, luminous and deeply hydrated. I find this primer far more efficient than the veil primer from Hourglass. It is also suitable for all skin types. Despite the amount of oils in the formula it doesn’t leave your skin looking, or feeling oily. One small pump is sufficient and therefore the product should last a long time. I apply it after my moisturizer, then wait for it to dry before I apply my makeup.
Pros
- Creates the perfect base
- richly hydrating
- fresh smell
- NO parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances or dyes, phthalates, GMOs or Triclosan
- a small pump is sufficient, therefore product lasts a long time
- Suitable for all skin types
Cons
- Rather costly ($75 CAD prices may vary)
Overall this primer has become one of my beauty must-haves, despite the high cost. I love to apply the Benefit Porefessional before applying this primer for an even more flawless base. If I had to choose just one though, I would choose the Hourglass primer over the Benefit Porefessional.
