Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Review

Urban Decay Lipstick

Urban Decay has always been one of my beauty must-have brands, whether it’s the naked palette, the concealers, or the lip products, I can guarantee that I am at least wearing one of their products daily. They recently launched a new line of lipsticks called the ‘Vice Lipstick’ and it is all the rave right now. There is now over a hundred new shades from bold and bright colours to dark hues, as well as multiple nudes that are suitable for a range of different skin tones. I immediately had to get my hands (or should I say lips) on them and figure out for myself; is it worth the hype?

What Is It?

Vice Lipsticks are highly pigmented, and creamy, with an amazing colour payoff but yet still buildable. They come in an array of shades as well  as 6 unique finishes. These finishes include: mega matte, comfort matte, cream, metallized, sheer, and sheer shimmer. Mega matte is the flattest finish and therefore the most matte. Comfort matte is matte as well but it has a more creamy formula which makes it more comfortable on the lips. Cream is the original UD finish. Metallized is a highly ‘pearlized’/ shiny finish, while sheer is a glossy finish and sheer shimmer has more shine than metallized.

UD’s proprietary pigment infusion system allows for the creamy texture and rich colour payoff. There is a butter blend that hydrates and softens the lips while aloe vera, jojoba, avocado and babassu oils and nourish. Illpie butter from the Illpie trees of Malaysia provide long lasting moisture, while Vitamin C and E are antioxidants.

Is It Worth The Hype?

These matte shades are truly some of the creamiest formulas I’ve encountered which make them the most comfortable to wear. The formula makes it easy to apply without any skipping or dragging. You do not need to build the coverage because it is highly pigmented with a rich colour payoff in just a single swipe.

These matte lipsticks are not as long-wearing as say the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks  which last me all day and through a few meals. The vice lipsticks last about half a day before needing to be retouched, and they do smudge easily. However this is not something to complain about. I truly love the formula of these vice lipsticks and the range of shades is so enticing. All in all these are definitely worth the hype!
